Toro (pictured here) and Thor, Drug Enforcement K9 Officers came by Swain High School this week and conducted searches for drugs and drug paraphernalia. No drugs were found. Special thanks to Macon County Deputy Mace and his K9 Thor and Franklin PD Deputy Elys and K9 Toro


Swain High senior Ava Albright won first place in Western Carolina University’s 2025 High School Creative Writing contest in the Poetry category for her poem "Where I'm From," which she wrote for Mr. Cutler’s Creative Writing class.
Every year, WCU, in conjunction with the Spring Literary Festival, hosts a High School Creative Writing contest in the categories of Poetry, Fiction, and Creative Nonfiction—with generous cash prizes for the winners and runners-up. The contest is open to all NC high school students, and WCU receives hundreds of submissions from across the state. Her achievement was recognized on Tuesday, April 8.

Prom 2025 Tickets are on sale! Last day to submit guest applications is April 4, 2025. Last day to purchase tickets is April 28, 2025. Price is $75. Juniors who purchase a ticket this year will attend free next year when they are a Senior.


Swain High’s Thespians, Troupe #8849, performed before adjudicators at the 2025 NC State Thespian Festival this past weekend. Their performances were ranked on a scale of Fair, Good, Excellent, and Superior. Nine troupe members presented 11 performances in total, bringing home FIVE "Superior" and SIX "Excellent" ratings!
