📚✨ Swain Middle Student Authors Published! ✨📚 Several Swain Middle students recently had their short stories selected for publication in Fright Club—a creative writing collection by Young Writers, an internationally recognized writing platform! These eerie tales (100 words or less!) were chosen for their spooky creativity and strong storytelling. Fright Club highlights young authors who know how to set a chilling scene—and our students delivered! Young Writers hosts contests throughout the year, encouraging middle and high school students around the world to explore their love for poetry and fiction. We’re so proud of our published authors and can’t wait to see what they write next!

This is your chance to show how far you’ve come. You’ve worked hard all year—now it’s time to shine ✨. Challenge: When you take your tests this week: Give it your all—leave nothing behind Wish your classmates luck Encourage each other Celebrate the effort—not just the result We’re all in this together, and we’re all pulling for each other. Mock Trial in Mrs. Lucas' Social Studies Class! Today, many our 6th graders stepped into the courtroom for a mock trial inspired by The Three Little Pigs. Students took on roles to either prosecute or defend the Big Bad Wolf, showcasing their understanding of the legal systems. A big thank you to the Swain County Administrative Office for allowing us to use the courtroom—this real-world setting made the experience even more impactful!

Next school year Swain Middle Athletics will be using the same program as the high school for keeping track of the forms needed for student athletes to participate. Below you will find the step by step instructions to sign up you and then your student athlete. Parents will sign up first, and then the student. Please use the student's school email. Sports physicals will be next Monday, May 19th, after school at the high school. It is for rising 6th thru 12th graders. A bus will be available to take middle school students up and drop them off for the physicals. Students will need to be picked up from the high school. One of the best ways to show respect for your school, your classmates, and yourself is by taking care of the space we all share. This week’s Kindness Challenge: ✅ Throw trash away ✅ Clean up after yourself at breakfast and lunch ✅ Respect the bathrooms ✅ Show pride in your school and community Remember, when we don’t take care of our school, others have to pick up the pieces. Let’s show them the respect they deserve. Let’s lead with kindness, respect, and pride—and finish the year the right way.

🎉 Maroon Meeting Monday at Swain Middle! We celebrated our i-Ready & Achieve 3000 winners 🏆, dedicated this year’s yearbook to Coach Keith Payne ❤️, and revealed a throwback cover 📘 inspired by our yearbook from 30 years ago! We wrapped it all up with a fun and competitive grade-level game 🎯—a great way to kick off the week!
